Inglewood Market Gateway, a new mixed-use residential and retail development on Market Street, Inglewood’s main thoroughfare, serves as both an anchor for the renewal district and a catalyst for future development. The project will incorporate 241 market-rate rental units, retail and restaurants including a much-anticipated new grocery store. Modern classic architecture rendered in brick, precast panels and stucco wraps the parking structure at the center of the building. The design, materials and traditional details, inspired by the redevelopment in Portland, Oregon’s historic Pearl District, give a sense of permanence and a civic presence to the building, and by extension, to the neighborhood.
Sited to maximize access, the development is kitty-corner from the Metro Station on the Crenshaw Light Rail Line, now under construction, and along the proposed pedestrian path and trolley line linking downtown to the Forum, the new stadium and entertainment attractions.
